Riding the Wave: Thordon Bearings and Millstream attend the Power of Water Canada Conference in Niagara

In late May, the staff from Millstream hit the road to attend the annual Power of Water Canada conference, exhibiting together with @Thordon Bearings.  As Canada’s largest hydroelectric conference, we were able to spend a few days fully immersed in new ideas, conversations, and exhibits relating to advancing waterpower in Canada.

One of the main highlights?  Having the opportunity to check out the hidden details within the historic Niagara Parks Power Station, located just above Niagara Falls. We also had the chance to descend 180 feet in a glass-paneled elevator and explore the 2,200-foot-long tailrace tunnel, leading to an observation deck at the river’s edge below the falls.

The second most exciting attraction of the show was of course Millstream Engineering and Thordon Bearings.  Thordon’s display of bearing materials and shaft-sealing technologies was quite the crowd-puller. Thordon’s water-lubricated turbine guide bearings, designed to be grease-free and reduce environmental impact, truly demonstrated Thordon’s commitment to sustainable solutions. When hearing about these innovative solutions in real life from the experts at Thordon Bearings, it’s easy to understand why they’re a leading choice in hydroelectric applications.

If you missed this year’s event, you’re probably kicking yourself right now. Don’t worry, though. Next year’s Power of Water Canada Conference is already on the horizon. Both Millstream Engineering and Thordon Bearings will be there again, raring to showcase their newest innovations. Mark your calendars for 2024, and hopefully, we will see you there!
